Day of the Dead Workshops & Celebrations

JOIN US IN THE GARDEN TO CREATE & CELEBRATE…

WORKSHOPS:
October 12, 19 & 26 from 11AM - 1PM

CELEBRATIONS:
November 1 & 2 from 5-9PM

Visit “La Calavera Catrina,” the Garden’s entry in the SYV Scarecrow Fest. She is constructed from natural materials and will stand watch over the community altar we will build throughout the month of October.

Several activities will be offered in October leading up to the Day of the Dead events on November 1 & 2. Each activity will be related to honoring those we have loved and who are now departed, including craft-making items for the altar, meditations, storytelling and face-painting. Details to follow later.

Everyone is welcome to come visit and contribute to the altar during the SYV Garden’s open hours (sunrise to sunset).
You are welcome to add photos of loved ones, including pets, flowers, artwork, and decorations.

Please do not leave food, candles, original photographs, pictures or valuables.

This vibrant holiday reminds us that those who are no longer of this lifetime still live on within us. When we come together, we see that we are not the only ones who have experienced loss and grief. When we share our stories — the stories of our loved ones and the legacies they’ve left behind — we open our hearts to remember and heal together. We step beyond the illusion that death is scary. Our community grows stronger.
