October 26 Workshops….


Mindful Yoga Walk — 8 to 9AM

Meet Laurie Burnaby at the entrance to the Botanic Garden for a Mindful Yoga Walk that will include a walking meditation, yoga, nature and voice for an intimate outdoor experience that will delight, enlighten and nourish your soul. There will be readings and time for thought about the process of grief. Laurie is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher and IAYT certified yoga therapist. She teaches locally in the at Bloom Yoga and the Alisal Ranch, and is on staff as a yoga therapist at the Family Counseling & Trauma Healing Center in Solvang. Laurie has also completed Therapeutic Yoga levels 1 and 2.


How to Speak with Children About Death: Developmentally Appropriate Ways — 11AM to Noon

Join Tracy Roberts to learn how to give your children the skills they need to cope with loss gradually — preferably before they are faced with a significant loss — so they have the internal resources to help them cope when the time inevitably comes. Tracy holds an advanced degree in Child Development, is an accredited Waldorf teacher and presently runs Acorn Village Forest School, a preschool in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Making Music to Honor Those We've Loved — 11AM to Noon

Children are invited to join Mackenzie Duncan for an hour of music-making. No experience necessary. Just bring your joy! Mac is a teacher at Dunn School, as well as an accomplished artist and musician.


Gentle Yoga & Meditation— Noon to 1PM

Join Gioia Marchese for gentle yoga and meditation to process grief. We will focus on releasing grief that may be stored in our cells and heal our nervous system through movement, breath and meditation. All ages welcome. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or blanket to sit on. Gioia holds a BA in psychology from Antioch University and is a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor.


Art! Art! Art! — Noon to 1PM

Altar Making / Dia de los Muertos Crafts
